Paisley Perfection

Decked Out is back! I let this weekly blog feature kind of slip away from me right around the time I moved to Seattle and things got especially crazy. I always really enjoyed putting these posts together so I'm excited to get back into it! For those who aren't familiar with Decked Out here's the deal- I start out with a vintage find that I love and add affordable, modern day basics (things you likely already have in your closet) to put together a full ensemble. So after a good five months away I feel like my fake virtual online shopping ban has been lifted and I just got paid!

My first stop was over at Jenny's awesomely curated vintage shop Freckle Wonder where I found this incredible 60's Paisley Party Dress. It's cold and rainy and dark where I live, but that's no reason to dress the same way! This would be my winter run to the famers market outfit. It's also the I can't wait to wear this dress in the spring, but I want to wear it NOW outfit.Decked Out- 60's Paisley Print DressI'd wrap myself up in this Double-layer Open Cardi (on sale) and belt it with a Skinny Laser Cut Belt from the GAP. I'd lace up these vegan-friendly boots from Modcloth and accessorize my look with a sparkly amethyst ring from Moorea Seal (via GaryPepperVintage).
I may just snatch up this dress for real so if you like it, get on it fast! It's on sale from $72 to $40! And seriously... that print!! 60's Paisley PrintGot any killer vintage shops or online retailers that stock awesome basics that I should check out? Please let me know in the comments. And thanks in advance for the tips!

Polkadotty

Oh how I heart today's vintage find for this week's decked out. Just look at those buttons up the side of this cutesy yellow and black polka dot jumper from The Appleseed Vintage! To die for!Decked Out PolkadottyI've paired this comfy jumper with some Gladiator Flat Sandals from Urban Original and another dotted touch with a Vivi Dot Watch Necklace. Isn't this the perfect summer get up for a 4th of July BBQ?
What are your plans for this glorious long weekend?

Comfy and Casual

I fell in love with this vintage rainbow button up from Oliver and Alexa Vintage so I decided to build a comfortable and casual outfit around it for this week's Decked Out.I paired this easy going shirt with some cropped navy pants from Banana Republic and some awesome Jazz Oxfords from the Alice and Olivia for Payless collection. And since no casual outfit is complete without a dot of color, I added my Vivi Dot Candy Pink Bow Necklace to bring out the pink stripes in the shirt.
If you love this shirt I'd suggest snatching it up soon because I plan to do so if there aren't any other takers. I have my eye on something else in their shop too!

Floral Bliss in Dress Form

Oh my goodness, I'm in LOVE with this dress! I know I've featured Dear Golden Vintage here before and I so badly want to branch out, but I just can't pass this up. Her finds are impeccable and I keep coming back time and time again. Oh, if only I were an extra small! I decided to pick up on a few of the less obvious colors in the dress by pairing this beauty with my Raspberry Ring and Golden Woven Heels via Modcloth. If you have any new ideas about where to find vintage online, or great independent retailers selling clothing or accessories please let me know in the comments! You can also follow me on Twitter which is where I find my features for my Decked Out Friday posts.
We're leaving Olive behind with a house sitter and taking a long weekend to camp. What are you up to? I hope you all have a fabulous weekend- can't wait to catch up next week!

Matchy Matchy In Mint

Some times it's fun to go a little overboard and match your whole outfit. It's especially hard to resist when it comes to this refreshing minty blue shade! This adorable vintage dress is available in a small/medium over at 1918 Vintage and it's even on sale through Sunday! I paired it with some feminine ruffle socks from American Apparel contrasted with a tougher pair of booties by Gabriella Rocha via Zappos. Sweep your hair back into a loose, low, side bun and add one last touch of mint with a Vivi Dot Pinwheel hair pin. Viola! You're ready for any springtime event!

Red, White and Vintage Done Right

Decked OutThis week's Decked Out was built around this adorable white mini dress with red details from The Ruby Kitten Vintage. The red leather peep toe shoes are also vintage and are available in the Lisazain Etsy Shop in a size 6.5/7. To finish off the look I added a pair of Delicate Lace Earrings from my shop.
When this is posted I'll be in route to a graduation! Can't wait to come back on Monday and share my adventures.

Pretty in Pink for Mom's Day

This week's decked out features pretty pinks and neutrals. The adorable dress is from Modcloth and the vintage shoes can be found in Dear Golden's Etsy Shop. Pull your hair back with some Pink Posies Hair Clips and your look will be complete! This outfit would be perfect a lovely Mother's Day Brunch!Speaking of Mother's day... Wendy of DecoDollop featured the Vivi Dot items she purchased in a sweet post titled Something a Mother Could Love. I adore the photo she took of her Redheaded Coquette Hair Pins on the krinkle kraft paper I package my orders with. I hope you all have a great weekend with your Mothers and Grandmothers. I'll be celebrating my mom Pam and Grandma Dottie long distance. I can't wait to give them a belated hug when I visit Seattle in June!

Made in the Shade

I scored a cheapo pair ($9.99) of sunglasses at Walgreens yesterday that I can't get enough of. They have some really horrible shades there, but I think these ones are an exception! I built this week's outfit around my bargain bin find. I started with a 1970's Seafarer Skirt from Dear Golden Vintage. Next I paired it with a neutral gray tank with a pleated v-neck (to be worn tucked in) from Banana Republic and amazing pair of Mia Cristina Platform Wedges. Last up is cute pair of vintage clip on earrings from Smelly Shoes Vintage. Made in the ShadeI was just able to add the followers gadget (to the right) last week so please don't forget to follow my blog! I hope you all have an amazing weekend!

Day Trippin

This week's Decked Out look is inspired by my desire to go on a springy daytime adventure. It's a comfy, easy going outfit suitable for a day in Golden Gate Park or a trip to Urban Ore. I built this outfit around an awesome vintage Boy Scout button up from Bleubird Vintage. I paired it with some relaxed Trouser Jean Cut Offs from The GAP and some awesome Heyday sneakers from Moxsie. Throw on some Multicolored Aztec Print Earrings and you'll be ready for a day outdoors.

Decked Out!

I love vintage dresses! I have a quite a few in my closet that I adore and even more that need some alterations in order to work just right. I hope to post about those projects here soon, but in the meantime I've decided to do a weekly post called decked out. A lot of the accessories I make work well with vintage clothing because the fabric covered buttons have a throw back feel to them. Here I'll piece together some fun outfits that incorporate some awesome vintage finds that can be swept up online, mixed in with new items from both the Vivi Dot Shop and elsewhere.

It's a sunny day here in San Francisco so I'm feeling some bright colors. This look was built around this amazing hot pink dress from Fluffy Vintage. I've accessorized it with some vibrant shoes from Mod Cloth as well as my Mad For Polka Dots Watch Necklace that ties it all together. decked out
If you're on Twitter I've found a lot of great vintage shops that tweet their new items. You can follow that list here.
