Seattle based Devout Dolls features super cool toys and doll things, but with a weird fairy tale-esque sort of creepy edge to them. Finally, a chance to buy the two-headed mint green deer you've been waiting for, OR a seemingly sweet looking girl doll aptly holding a needle to do some voodoo, OR an octopus/bunny hybrid with built in wire tentacles! All of her work show cased on her gallery page is so detail heavy and brilliantly crafted, I've gone back to look at it like six times since I started writing this post. So. Cool.
I'm a huge fan of Dotty Speck's work, another local designer. I'm drawn to the kind of simple and understated jewelry that you can wear everyday, and her pieces are just refined and delicate enough to be perfect for everyday wearing.
Second to the less season-oriented cookie, I can say with utmost certainty that ice cream is my favorite treat. I've been lucky enough to sample some of the magic that is Half Pint Ice Cream at various farmers markets around Seattle, and I have yet to be disappointed. Handcrafted with as many local ingredients as they can get their hands on, and not to mention with flavors like cinnamon oatmeal cookie, strawberry lemon sorbet or rhubarb, it seems likely that unless you are a curmudgeon with no soul, you too will not have the power to resist trying a cone of a badass flavor of your choice.
Important fact about me: I'm a soap person. Body wash is messy and can be sort of wasteful; soap is compact and gives the illusion of resourcefulness that I value highly. Plus sometimes it smells (and/or) looks like candy, so there's that, too. Seattle based Estrella Soaps offers hand crafted vegan bars, all scented with essential oils. Let's be real, who doesn't want to bury their nose in a Lemon Basil bar of soap? Swooooon.
